For many women, menopause comes with an endless list of unwelcome symptoms and emotions. But for country-pop queen Shania Twain, the transition has brought her something positively unexpected.
Twain revealed in a recent interview with the U.K.’s Sunday Times Magazine that menopause has completely reshaped the way she sees herself.
“Now I’m, like, bring on the mirrors, I’m going to look at myself all day long,” she told the outlet.
Reflecting on her 2019 Las Vegas residency, the star admitted she pushed herself too hard with a restrictive diet, intense exercise and “doing very unhealthy things” in an effort to keep up with the demands of performing.
The harsh lifestyle ultimately worsened a painful thigh injury and forced Twain to rethink her relationship with her body. Today, the 60-year-old says her perspective has completely changed.
“Menopause has been very good for me because I’ve learnt that some things you cannot control,” she says.
The candid comments offer fans another glimpse into a more candid chapter for the artist, who has become increasingly open about aging and her body—all ahead of the release of Little Miss Twain, her seventh studio album, on July 24.
