Canadian icon Alanis Morissette is getting candid about a transformative part of her life, sharing all you oughta know about menopause and midlife.
The 52-year-old-singer—whose 1995 album Jagged Little Pill defined a generation—described menopause as a “truth serum,” saying it has helped her move closer to what she calls her “authentic truth” in a recent interview with The Sunday Times.
Morissette also discussed using menopause hormone therapy to manage the physical and emotional changes that can come with menopause. She recalled a conversation about the agony of potentially stopping treatment later in life, joking in response: “Who’s going off it?”
Offstage, Morissette says motherhood remains her most grounding role. She shares three children with her husband, rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway.
Reflecting on aging, the singer says she has learned to stop resisting change and instead move with it, describing midlife as a period of increased clarity and self-awareness.
Morissette is currently on a summer tour, which includes a stop in Calgary for the Stampede on July 11.
