Easiest way to deseed a jalapeno pepper

Most of a pepper's spiciness in the seeds. With this technique, you can dial back the heat so it doesn’t overpower your meal.

Most of the heat in a jalapeno pepper is contained in the seeds. To manage the spiciness they add to a dish, you can deseed them (and it's as simple as scooping them out of the pepper with a spoon!). Watch our associate food editor demonstrate the technique in the video above.
