Seven New Year's Eve party decorations on a budget

Christmas balls

Don’t put away those decorations just yet! Save the white, gold and silver ones and fill simple glass vases with them as chic centrepieces.

Natural elements

Snip a few pine boughs and collect a few pinecones and scatter them around the table. Create a more wintery look by adding a bit of “snow” to some of your pinecones. Here’s how to do it.

Paper

Turn leftover wallpaper into colourful table runners, placemats or coasters.  Or pick up some card stock at your local dollar store and create these festive garlands, ready in just 10 minutes!

Shot glasses

If you don't already have a collection, shot glasses can be had for next to nothing at a dollar store. Use them as bud vases with tiny sprigs of fir, a single spiky pine cone, a small bundle of pretty branches, or a miniature spray of blooms.

Crockery

Head to a second-hand store and pick up an assortment of mismatched vintage teacups. These can be used to hold pre-party snacks or tealights.
