Where in the world is Taylor Swift getting married this summer? And when?

It’s the double-barrelled question that’s launched a million speculative gossip items—and there appears to be no signs of slowing until the ink on the registry documents are dry.

When the pop superstar announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce in late August of last year, many outlets said the locale of choice would be the singer’s Rhode Island compound and the date would be June 13. (The singer also has a penchant for the number 13.)

Later, that evolved into reports that the singer and the athlete had decided to get married in New York City on July 3.

Over the last few weeks, tabloids like the New York Post and TMZ have reported far more ambitious plans. According to TMZ, Swift and Kelce are planning to exchange their I dos at none other than Madison Square Garden—a.k.a the “world’s most famous arena.”

For context: the venue seats just under 20,000 people and can accommodate 1,250 for a banquet.

TMZ's case for MSG

TMZ cites anonymous “industry insider” sources in its case for MSG and claims the pair are spending upwards of $3 million for a three-day rental of the venue. The gossip site bolsters its story by flagging a gap in MSG’s event calendar that appears to align with what many assume to be Swift’s official wedding date of July 3.

Swift’s recent appearances at MSG in support of the New York Knicks during the NBA Finals have only stoked the theory of her affection for the stadium, which she has regularly sold out as a performer.

But you have to move, er, swiftly to keep up with the changing story of the Elizabeth Taylor singer's nuptials. This week, Rhode Island's The Providence-Journal tried to get to the bottom of the mystery—even parsing the numerology behind the June and July dates that have been floated as the big day.

Should we expect a Swift twist?

While it feels fitting for a three-time Super Bowl winner like Kelce and an international stadium dominator like Swift to opt-in on the most insanely OTT venue for their wedding, it’s not so simple to parse what’s true from what’s just some gossip-inflected form of fantasy wedding football—and that may be by design.

All the frantic speculation is a solid reminder of how savvy the singer really is when it comes to handling media attention. And no disrespect to the tabloids breathlessly trying to unravel the mystery of her marriage-to-be, but it’s more than fair to assume that the queen of Easter eggs is wise enough to keep some of the details of her private affair under tight wraps and playful enough to float a few headline-worthy theories to keep the gossip mill churning.

Whether it’s this weekend in Rhode Island or July 3 at MSG, I’ve got my money on Swift being the source from whom fans will get the real scoop on her wedding day—in a manner and form of media she deems worthy.
