After weeks of internet speculation that they were secretly dating, Summer House cast members Amanda Batula and West Wilson have confirmed publicly that the rumours are true: they are romantically involved.
The duo chose to confirm their complicated relationship status update via a statement on their Instagram stories posted on Tuesday afternoon.
“It was never our intention to purposely hide anything,” their statement read.
“Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we need a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”
Here’s everything you need to know about the drama (so you can keep up with your group chat).
Summer House is a popular Bravo reality TV series about a group of 20- and 30-somethings (and a couple of 40-somethings who probably shouldn’t be there) who party together at a weekend share house in the Hamptons. The show premiered back in 2017, and its tenth season is currently airing.
Batula and Wilson’s romance represents a girl- and bro-code shattering bombshell within the cast. That’s because Batula is best friends with West’s ex-girlfriend, Ciara Miller. (A recent trailer for Season 10 of Summer House also teases a Miller-West rekindling.) West, meanwhile, is good friends with Batula’s recently estranged husband of four years, Kyle Cooke—Summer House’s resident 40-something party boy-cum-DJ. “
In fact, the ink is barely dry on Cooke and Batula’s separation announcement—news the couple also delivered via Instagram stories just two months ago—and viewers this season have been treated to endless conversations about all the former couple’s feelings (good and bad) for one another.
This is not simply a love triangle but a square—and one that has the potential to become an incestuous reality TV scandal not seen since the likes of Vanderpump Rules’ Scandoval. (In 2024, the affair between reality stars Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss broke out of the Bravo-verse and reached mainstream consciousness.)
The news has moved swiftly through the show’s fandom. But it’s also moving quickly within the cast. There are reports that Miller unfollowed both her ex and Batula within minutes of their statement release.
Viewers are also now watching Season 10 with a more scrupulous eye to see if any Wilson-Batula moments from last summer were caught on camera at the Hamptons house. (Is it too early to call it the hand grab heard ’round the world?)
Brace for more Instagram stories.
