under-fire

Today, March 8th, is International Women's Day and I find myself celebrating all the wonderful achievements women have made over the years. And of course, being a woman in the forces, I can't help but reflect on the way the military has changed as well.

I have about 15 bruises on my left shin. All of them are from Mark....in his sleep. I tried to sleep next to him but eventually, not being able to get any shut-eye forced me to give up and sleep in the guest bedroom.

The countdown is on to Ben's return from Afghanistan, and now, with just 3 weeks left, our relationship comes under fire again. Ben might have to stay on for another 4 months.

Today, I got a taste of what my civilian life will be like. I'm almost there.
