Easter chocolates are going gourmet from coast to coast. Read below for more on the ten stores doing something we love this Easter season.
SOMA chocolatemaker, Toronto
SOMA has a showtopper for sale this Easter: carefully crafted eggs sitting on a hazelnut chocolate nest. Inside each egg? A fig stuffed with roasted almond and butter caramel. And their runaway bunnies? Adorable! They come in dark and milk chocolate, and have a lot more friends to choose from; see all the Easter treats available here.
Rousseau Chocolatier, Halifax
Open since last May, this year marks the first Easter for Rousseau Chocolatier in Halifax (and they’re going all out – their “Mother of all eggs” weighs in at 1.5 KG). Many of the shop’s handmade chocolates are available online – but you’ll have to drop by in person for a carton of these delicate chocolate eggs (with a surprise inside!).
Chez Christophe, Vancouver
Creating a variety of Easter showpieces this year, we’re in love with Chez Christophe’s chocolate eggs – they’re more like works of art than candy.
Les chocolats de Chloé, Montreal
Exclusively using Valrhona premium chocolate, this Montreal chocolate shop is adding a delicious, gourmet touch to Easter. We love the look of their adorable chocolate chickens, and the oeufs de caille (think salted caramel or praliné, covered in chocolate and a thin layer of sugar) sound heavenly.
Chocolatier Constance Popp, Winnipeg
The only chocolatier in Winnipeg has created plenty of Easter goodies leading up to the holiday, but we love their gorgeous chocolate lilies (in gallery above). Who wouldn’t want an edible bouquet of these spring flowers? Also among their Easter offerings are brightly coloured chocolate easter eggs, with mouth-watering fillings like vanilla bean cream, caramel sea salt and marshmallow and caramel-hazelnut crunch.
Rhéo Thompson Candies, Stratford
Starting out in Stratford ON, in 1969, Rhéo Thompson Candies is a shop overflowing with colourful candies and chocolates. We have our eye on these adorable mini chocolates topped with bunnies, chicks and easter eggs; they not only look delicious to eat, but double as great table setting decor!
Beta 5, Vancouver
Chocolate becomes gorgeous, abstract art with Beta 5’s creative Easter-egg cube.
Newfoundland Chocolate Company, St. John’s
These hand-decorated milk, dark and white eggs (available online) are a cute and colourful way to say Happy Easter this weekend.
Jacek Chocolate Couture, Edmonton
With an online boutique and specialty shops in Edmonton, everyone can get their hands on their colourful chocolate Easter chicks. Available in blue, pink, yellow and purple.
Purdys, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario
