Here are a few easy ways to brighten up your next party featuring spring’s fresh blooms and pretty pastel colours.

Fabrics: We mixed jewel tones like rich plums and emerald greens with washed-out pastels for a modern Easter table. Hand-thrown ceramic plates in earthy colours ground the look and keep it from getting too precious.

DIY place card holders: Mini eggshell gardens planted with spring’s new blooms are perfect as place card holders – and guests can take them home with them at the end of the celebration to plant in their garden. Click here for the easy how-to.

DIY bloomed ice cubes: For a beautiful ice bucket centrepiece and a treat for guests, we froze flowers into our ice cubes. Look for pansies, marigolds and violets or other edible flowers grown without pesticides. Using distilled water (to prevent foggy ice), fill an ice cube tray halfway and freeze for about an hour, until the water is just setting. Then place your flowers, fill with more water and freeze.
