Just say no to bad body image — you'll avoid getting caught in the downward spiral of self-fulfilling prophecy. Norwegian researchers observed that teens of normal weight who saw themselves as "fat" were far more likely to become overweight as adults.

Bottom line: Go easy on yourself. The stress associated with setting unrealistic goals could contribute to weight gain.
