If there’s one thing the Chatelaine team can rally around, it’s a bag of chips. Or multiple, rather: we’ve taste-tested almost every brand of ketchup and and all-dressed chips out there to find you the best, and when our beloved Miss Vickie’s tried new flavour combinations with Canadian restaurants earlier this year, we were on the chip beat.

So when President’s Choice debuted three new flavours in their line of kettle-cooked chips with the launch of their 2025 Holiday Insiders Report a couple of weeks ago, we knew what to do. Here’s what our editors thought of each one.

Sour Cream & Chive

Unlike PC’s previous entries in the kettle chip category, this new crop of chips are ripple-cut for extra crunch. While this went over well with tasters across all three flavours, people seemed to really like the added crunch factor in the Sour Cream & Chive. Flavour-wise, however, results were mixed. Most editors found this chip a little too heavy on the seasoning (as one wrote, “garlic breath for hours”), but a few felt it tasted closer to real roast potatoes and sour cream.

Hot Honey & Lime

This chip offering was a popular flavour among editors—who doesn’t love a sweet and spicy combo? Many, though, had one note to take things up a notch: less honey, more lime. “These chips are a little too sweet for me,” wrote one. “I wish it was just spicy lime.” My suggestion? Tossing the chips in a little squeeze of lime and some light hot sauce, Mexican street chip-style, couldn’t hurt.

Spicy All-Dressed

A runaway hit among almost everyone who tasted this chip—our office really loves all-dressed chips! Slightly spicy, very vinegary and a little sweet, editors noted these chips tasted like a punched-up version of regular all-dressed. (Personally, I found them a little heavy on the vinegar—but who am I to rain on the chip parade?)

You’ll find these three new flavours on sale at No Frills for as little as $1.75, depending on where you live—if there’s a time to try them, it’s this month.
