Eating potato chips is a beloved national pastime (especially in the Chatelaine Test Kitchen), and now there's an even better excuse to do it: it supports two homegrown favourites.
Covered Bridge, the New Brunswick company behind some of our team's favourite chip flavours, has announced that it's partnering with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The two-year partnership between the East Coast potato chip brand and Canada's only Major League Baseball team means that fans will be able to buy flavours such as Storm Chips (an irresistible mélange of its Creamy Dill, Homestyle Ketchup, Smokin' BBQ and Salt & Vinegar chips in one bag) at snack stalls in the Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto.
The deal comes at a good time for both Covered Bridge and the Jays, both of which are coming off some setbacks and could use some good news.
In March 2024, Covered Bridge’s Hartland, New Brunswick factory burned down. It took a year and a half for the nearly 20-year-old company to resume full operations at a former site in Woodstock, N.B.
And last year, the Jays lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a national heartbreaker during game seven. In addition to partnering with Covered Bridge (there's reportedly going to be co-branded chips on store shelves, too), the Jays are celebrating their 50th season this year.
