under-fire

It's less than a month until Ben comes home and I can't help but feel a bit nervous about the fact that once again, I'm going to have to learn to live with someone else. Someone I'm supposed to know like the back of my hand but who has almost become a bit foreign to me.

When I woke up this morning, and quickly ran out the door, I realized that this would be my last time leaving the house in my uniform. Turns out, it won't be as easy as I thought.

My road trip across the country has finally come to an end, I have arrived in Vancouver, my new home.

In the military, we all wear the same thing every day; combat boots, camouflage pants and shirt, and a horrendous looking beret. All in all, it's awfully hard to look female when you're busy looking like a man.

I spent this past weekend on Salt Spring Island, celebrating my birthday with some old military buds. But it was also a weekend of reflection, spent wondering where my health and my career are about to take me.
