Sometimes it takes an awesome song to push you through a tough workout. With that in mind, every week on this blog we'll feature a new playlist of workout tunes from a notable Canadian woman. This week starts us off with a cardio-happy list from Angela Smith, a Toronto-based fashion and lifestyle producer at ET Canada.

Why she listens to music while exercising: "I train at The Body Temple, twice-weekly, for some TV-worthy butt kicking sessions.  Once I passed the 30+ mark, it took trainers, tunes and toning clothes to keep me in shape. Here are some sassy songs that keep me moving."

Angela's workout playlist

Rhythm Is Dancer by Snap
: "Nothing gets my heart rate moving like a throwback to my teens beats. Aw, memories!"

Dirty Bit by Black Eyed Peas
: "This is a great cardio song! I convince myself I am having "the time of my life" while I burn fat and get heart-healthy.  The romantic undertone is pretty motivational too."

Who's That Chick by Rihanna
: "Makes me wanna dance!"

What The Hell by Avril Lavigne
: "I can listen to this song on repeat. It makes me want to rebel (I catch myself singing on the elliptical). Ha!"

Free Falling by Tom Petty: "I know, this is a curve ball here, but this song makes my mind wander and the next thing I know I've either passed the time running or finished a hard set of weight training. I really want to sky dive and this would be my song, so often times I drift into day dreams of free falling..."

Tonight (I'm Loving You) by Enrique: "If he doesn't get you moving...well, then click next!"

Love Generation (Bob Sinclar Tribute) by The True Star: "This song gets my feet moving for cardio.  Even at my desk I can't help but bop around in my chair."

Single Ladies by Beyoncé: "Forget a 'ring'! I want to put on a bodysuit and look and move like Beyonce in this video. 'Single Ladies' motivates me to keep moving and pushing weights to get curves like hers."

Firework by Katy Perry: "I remember interviewing Katy (great gal) and watching her perform at the Victoria's Secret show (seeing all those fine forms). I push harder through my workout remembering the strain other people are under; my work out is nothing in comparison to other ladies!"

F**kin' Perfect by Pink: "This is a great cool down song for me."
