Today, I went to the doctor and discovered that I have several masses on my thyroid and parathyroid. With that confirmation, I'm definitely scared.

PFCs, known to affect immune, thyroid and liver function in mice, may be dangerous for humans too.

My illness is taking it out of me and I'm finding that just keeping up with daily life is difficult. So much so, that I don't even want to clean.

As I'm sure you all know, the most helpful assistance in getting through hard times or illness is to surround yourself with friends and family. Sadly, I don't have any here in Vancouver. Thankfully, my friend Chris from Kingston, who I happen to believe might have been my brother in another life, sent out an email to all the friends he has in Vancouver and asked if someone would take pity on me and be my friend. A lovely woman named Georgie was the only one to answer that email.

I was sent for a barrage of tests on Friday and I spent the day scared and alone. But Monday, I started my new job at the publishing house, and for a moment, it felt like a new lease on life.
