You've seen Carmindy on What Not To Wear right? Think she's pretty on TV? Well, she's about 3,000 times more stunning in person...so obviously I'll be taking her beauty advice to heart.

The makeup-artist-turned-makeover-show-star was in town recently to promote her cosmetic line, Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy. Alex Laws, our copy editor, and I had a chance to chat with her while she was here.

Here's what she told us about the inspiration behind the new line:

"When I created Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy it was based on the show (What not to Wear) and helping women choose what’s wrong and what’s right for them. I’ve been a makeup artist in the fashion industry for years and years but it wasn’t until I did the show that I realized that real women had a real problem finding makeup that worked for them. The problem was that every celebrity makeup artist was giving tips on how to look like Beyonce or J-Lo or Jessica Alba but what woman with three kids and a life and a job has time for a multi-step routine that takes an hour and a half? They’re not going to wear contour and fake lashes. It made no sense."

Amen!

Carmindy went on to tell us that she started by putting a call out on her website (which is loaded with fab tips by the way) asking women what they wanted. The answer was: eyeliners that stay put, sheer foundations that didn’t cause breakouts, and something to get rid of dark circles that didn’t look heavy. She then worked with Sally Hansen's creative team and chemists to create formulas that work on all women and all skin types – you can be 16 or 68 and use these products, according to Carmindy.

My personal favourite in the new line has got to be the Airbrush Spray Makeup. It's a light, sheer formula you can apply in seconds and the best part: you can use it on your legs too to cover bruises and other imperfections. Genius!
