A perfect pedicure is summer’s must-have accessory, says Essie Weingarten, the founder of Essie Cosmetics. Play up your toes with her expert direction:

1. Soften cuticles with moisturizer or oil, or a soak in warm soapy water, then gently push back.

2. Prime and clean nails with a touch of nail-polish remover.

3. Add a base coat to protect nails and give polish something to hold onto.

4. Brush on a top coat to seal the deal and prevent chips.

Then show off your perfect pedicure with a pair of eye-catching sandals!
