Adding a spoonful of jam is an easy way to make a flavour base for a cocktail, and cranberry sauce ticks that same box. If your sauce is super chunky, you can chop it up—by hand or with a food processor—before using.—Eshun Mott
2 orange slices
1/4 cup cranberry sauce
3/4 cup gin
Ice cubes
Ginger ale, chilled
Orange twists, for garnish
Add orange slices and cranberry sauce to a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler to squish them together. Add gin and a handful of ice cubes. Shake to combine. Strain mixture into four tall cocktail glasses filled with fresh ice, and then top with ginger ale. Garnish with orange twists.
