This oh-so-classic cocktail couldn't be easier to make.
2 oz rye
1/2 oz simple syrup (recipe below)
2 to 6 dashes Angostura bitters
maraschino cherry, to granish
slice of orange, to garnish
ice cubes
FILL a lowball glass with ice cubes. Add rye, simple syrup and Angostura bitters. Stir well.
GARNISH with maraschino cherry and orange.
Simple syrup: Boil 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water in a small pot until sugar dissolves. Store in fridge up to two months.
Cocktail math: 1 oz = 2 tbsp.
