Toronto Blue Jays first baseman and star batter Vladimir Guerrero Jr. donned a very special jersey for his arrival at Rogers Centre for game seven of the World Series: Canadian hockey legend Marie-Philip Poulin's Team Canada jersey, complete with her “C” for captain.
Guerrero Jr. channeled the star power of the three-time Olympic gold medallist and four-time World Champion Poulin, nicknamed “Captain Clutch”—the only Canadian hockey player, male or female, to score in four gold medal games.

Guerrero Jr.’s nod to Poulin was powerful. In a series that pushed Canadians to the edge of their seats and onto their feet across living rooms, sports bars and stadiums, the first baseman took a moment to share the spotlight with an athlete who’s carved out a lasting legacy in Canadian sport. With representation of women athletes still heavily lacking in the mainstream, viral moments like these can have a ripple effect.
In the wake of the Jays’ crushing loss to the L.A. Dodgers, the cross-sport solidarity is a bright spot. Poulin returned the energy, repping the Blue Jays’ colours with Guerrero Jr.’s jersey in an X (formerly Twitter) post on Saturday.
Looking good, Pou! 💙
