The news: Canadian actor-director Sarah Polley has signed on to write the latest adaptation of Little Women, the classic coming-of-age novel by Louisa May Alcott. Whether you consider yourself more of a Jo or a Beth, this is big news for book-lovers — the Civil War–era tome hasn't been revisited since 1994, long before Kirsten Dunst (Amy) was a Spider-Man heroine and Christian Bale (Laurie) morphed into Batman. So far, it's rumoured that Polley's version will have an all-female production crew, including recently fired Sony exec Amy Pascal.

The dish: A family-style sausage-and-mushroom lasagna. Feeds four March sisters, a Marmee and three guests. Get the recipe here.
