Three ways to use trim

1. For an instant Georgian pedigree, apply trim to walls in rectangular panels painted the same shade as the wall colour, or for a French look, accent mouldings with white paint paired with fondant pastel walls.

2. Installing deep baseboards and crown mouldings is an easy, cost-effective way to make a home look more expensive. Emphasize the décor style with the appropriate trim, for example, egg-and-dart crown mouldings in formal rooms.

3. For platform beds, use trim to create an impromptu headboard on the wall behind the bed, and paint in a contrasting shade.
