Use long woody stems to create a beautiful, eye-catching display. Choose plants like quince, cherry or dogwood that have little attractive flowers and put them in a stout vase about a third as tall as the branches to really showcase the long majestic branches.
Tip: Hold branches in place by putting marbles at the bottom of the vase.
Goes well with: Whitley vases, from $25, Pottery Barn.
To add visual variety and create a playful floral arrangement, cut flower stems to varying lengths. Daffodils and tulips are great for this look because of their singular, soft long stems that are easy to cut. For a quick and easy centrepiece, try grouping together different-sized vases at the centre of the table.
Tip: Tie floppier flowers together with a rubber band and place them in the centre of the vase, then lean the sturdier ones along the rim.
Goes well with: Twine-wrapped Wood Vase, from $26, West Elm.
Goes well with:
Brighten up your home with a graceful and simple arrangement of monochromatic flowers — this look will look great on any coffee table! Try using a generous bunch of lush opulent flowers like hydrangeas, which gives off a rich homey feeling.
Tip: Fill vase three-quarters of the way with water. Place flowers on different corners of the vase, with stems crisscrossing to form a web. The flower heads should be just above the vase and the flowers at the center should be a tad bit taller than those on the edges.
Goes well with: Evleen Mercury Glass Vase, from $32, Pottery Barn.
