Five ways to love your place

Colour-block a wall

Use a lick or two of paint to give your room an instant lift. We just love how horizontal stripes in warm pink and red tones create a faux headboard in this bedroom, but you can try this trick on any feature wall or even in a bathroom. Complete the look with matching accessories. (Click here to learn more ways to use the colour-blocking technique in your home.)

Magnificence and Carnival Pink paint, CIL.

Add apothecary style

Bring a designer look to a mantel or shelf by grouping a few of these exotic pieces together. (We're totally coveting the blue and plum shades!)

Bud vases, $58, small decanters, $146, Rejuvenation.

Turn up the (good) mood lighting

Add a touch of whimsy to any room with this sparrow-shaped table lamp. With two fabric covers (patterned and solid white) and a programmable LED light that glows white or multicoloured, it works just as beautifully in a kid's bedroom as it does in a more formal living area.

I Love Animals, $206, Alessi.

Corral clutter in a cute tray

For stylish solutions to everyday problems, like where to drop your keys, look no further than West Elm's new concept store, West Elm Market. Now open in Vancouver and Toronto, it's a pretty-meets-practical take on the general store.

Sarah Campbell decoupage trays, small, $10, large, $12, West Elm.
