The stark and dated colour scheme was the first point of departure. The goal was to retain the minimalism of the design, but to add warmth and functionality to the space. More storage was also a key objective in order to minimize the countertop clutter.
This pantry wall was one of the favoured elements of the existing kitchen, although the fridge was never properly incorporated. Also, although the pantry was favoured as a storage solution, the balance of the existing pantry was thrown off by the one smaller left hand door which had been cut down to accommodate the entrance.
With the bulkhead removed and a new stone floor, the freshly drywalled and painted space hints at the transformation to come. Ready for cabinets!
Cabinet installation is well underway. The slide-in stove will be replaced by a counter-top range and oven tower. Stainless steel legs take the place of the usual toe kick, adding lightness to the cabinetry.
A dazzling new kitchen, complete with built in appliances, black quartz countertop and a finely textured stone backsplash. The warmth of this space is achieved through the choice of a cinnamon finish on the cabinetry.
Simplicity reigns in this spacious eat-in kitchen where the interplay of materials, colour and texture create a luxurious and modern statement. A spectacular transformation from top to bottom!
