We take you behind the scenes

Walking to a screening Friday night, I had to stop to join the crowd gawking in front of Toronto's Holt Renfrew store on Bloor Street. Actress Sienna Miller and her designer sister Savannah were the guests of honour at the Canadian launch of their clothing line Twenty8Twelve. While all I could see was limos, strong lights and paparazzi, the excitement was sincere and the fans were screaming.

I stuck it out a little longer, but to no avail. I had to leave and Miller hadn't arrived yet (although I read later that she did appear on time as promised). One little girl sitting on her father's shoulders summed up the entire scene, as kids often can: "I want to see a famous, Daddy, but I'm hungry. Should we wait?" I hope she did! – Alicia Cox

The Festival kicks off today and the celebrity gift lounges are open for business! Today was media day and we visited the eTalk Tastemakers Green Room and the NKPR Inc. IT Lounge. Both lounges are affiliated with a charity: Tastemakers has partnered with the World Wildlife Fund Canada and IT with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The Festival isn't all about glitz and glamour, good things are being done to help our most precious resources thrive: the planet and our children. – Alicia Cox
