If the idea of a slim food critic seems improbable, meet Peter Kaminsky. The New York City writer lost 35 pounds on his "Flavour Per Calorie" diet. In his book Culinary Intelligence, he shares his secrets:

1. Appreciate each bite
2. Stop eating when you've maxed out on the flavour
3. Avoid the white stuff (flour, sugar, rice and potatoes) and processed foods
4. Always buy the best ingredients you can afford.

Sounds like a plan!
