Uh-oh! New British and French research reports that declines in memory, reasoning and comprehension can start as early as age 45 — not around 60, as previously thought. The good news is researchers say you can slow down cognitive decline at any age.

Game plan: Follow the mantra “What’s good for your heart is good for your head.” Increase vitamin B intake with brain-building foods like eggs, kidney beans and fish. Limit the table salt. And snack on bananas for a hit of healthy potassium.
