A clever mind game may help you make the most out of your golf swing. Researchers at Purdue University in Indiana found that simply picturing a bigger hole on the green can improve your putting accuracy by as much as 10 percent. A little illusion goes a long way, boosting confidence, says lead researcher Jessica Witt, who studies perception in sports at Purdue.

Try it today: When you step up to the putting green, imagine a slightly bigger hole to calm your nerves and steady your swing. You should actually see a difference on your scorecard!
