A juice is the liquid extracted when fruit and veggies are pressed in a juicing machine; the pulp is discarded. Smoothies are made in a blender using whole fruits and often contain other non-juiceable ingredients, such as bananas, yogurt or honey. Because the pulp from produce stays in a smoothie, they have a much thicker consistency and usually contain more fibre. When it comes to what you can include in your juice, it may depend on the juicer — some are heavy-duty enough to juice whole lemons, while others can’t handle the tough peel.
