A gal's gotta eat and sometimes she's got to grab something fast—without having to break a $10 bill. Thankfully, in response to the fact everything is so expensive right now, many fast-food restaurants have launched $5-or-less meal deals. Here's the lowdown.

In January, McDonald's Canada made a "one-year price promise" on its McValue meals, i.e., a handful of breakfast and lunch offerings—available at all times—for $5 plus tax.
For lunch, that means you can snag a McDouble burger, Junior Chicken sandwich or Chicken Snack Wrap with small fries and a small drink for not much more than the price of a coffee at your favourite café. And speaking of coffee, McD's also locked in the price of a small coffee at $1 for the next year, as well as several $5 breakfast sandwich deals, which include coffee as well as a hashbrown.
(While you're there, we recommend trying a Biscoff McPop or one of the brand's new dirty sodas.)

Not to be undone by Ronald McDonald, Colonel Saunders is currently offering a value menu that consists of three different combos—Snacker Wrap, Slider or Popcorn Chicken—all of which come with a small fries and drink—for just $4.49.

The summertime frozen treat staple has also built out a roster of solid drive-thru meals (we're partial to the new Swicy menu). If you order through the DQ app as a Rewards member, you can get an Original Cheeseburger Signature Stackburger for just $3.99—a $4 savings!

The Frosty maker is coming in hot with its supremely affordable Unlimited Time Quality Choices menu. Offerings include several decently sized Junior Burgers, its new Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Cheese Fries and Six-Piece Chicken Nuggets, each priced between $2.79 and $3.79. (And if you're in the mood for breakfast, we tried the new Wendy's Breakfast Poutines, priced at $4.99 each—and we liked them!)

It’s not a combo meal, but if you’re craving a decent size burger that’s also made from grass-fed beef, you could do worse than A&W’s Spicy Piri-Piri Beef Buddy which delivers 1.6 oz of grass-fed beef with a pleasing kick of spice for $4.99.
