What to wear to work: Four ways to update your fall wardrobe

Watch! Chatelaine's assistant fashion editor, Tyler Franch, spoke with Cityline's Tracy Moore as part of our first ever Chatelaine Day. Get his tips on how to brighten up your fall back-to-work wardrobe. Try mixing and matching tailored blazers, power pumps and playful pieces. "It's all about having fun with it," says Franch, and we couldn't agree more!

1. Get a swacket (short for sweater jacket). Try: Gap, Ponte academy blazer, $90

2. Work jeans into your work wardrobe with a denim jacket. Try: Gap, 1969 denim jacket, $80

3. Pair something casual with a classic like the little black dress. Franch paired a military-style jacket with a tailored dress and cinched it all in with an over-sized black belt. Try: Old Navy, Drawstring military jacket, $35.

4. Make a statement on the bottom with patterned pants. When wearing bold pants be sure to keep the rest of your look very subtle. Opt for neutral colours and solid accessories when sporting bold bottoms. Try: Old Navy, Bold-pattern twill capris (24"), $25
