What is it?
Rita & Zia was conceived in 2006 when Italian-born, Swiss designer, Sandrine Barabinot, discovered an array of beautiful gems in her travels. She decided to branch out from the contemporary clothing line that she started more than twenty years ago in Geneva, Switzerland, and delve into the sea of jewels.

All the pieces in the Rita & Zia collection carry the perfect mix of classic boho-luxe laced with spirituality to bring the sentiments of happiness and good fortune to the owner. Sandrine's vision for Rita & Zia is to create beautiful and meaningful pieces that every woman can incorporate into their daily wardrobe. Pieces in the collection range from earrings and cuffs to necklaces and bracelets in sandal wood, ebony, turquoise, Czech crystals, Aventurine, Quartz-blue and jade.  Each piece is adorned with yellow and rose gold plate and sterling silver symbols from various cultures.

The "good luck" charms in the collection include everything from clovers and horseshoes to a Buddha, hands of Fatima, as well as snakes and turtles. One of their newest and most popular charms is the tiger.

Rita & Zia has gained a cult following in New York, Geneva, Belgium, Paris, Madrid, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Courchevel and Megeve. These luxurious hippy-chic pieces can be found on the wrists, necks, waists and ears of style elites. Now, we Canadians can finally purchase through their newly launched site, www.rita-zia.com!

Why we love it?

I love it when a piece of jewelry has a story or meaning behind it, and it makes a great conversation piece.  Regardless of superstition, Rita & Zia's statement pieces are so pretty and unique, so when you look at them, they can make you smile, and happiness results in positive energy, and positive energy always brings about good things, right?

My personal favourites in the collection are the new charm post earrings in gold Serenity and the Tiger, I also love the silver Elephant charm Labradorite bracelet (I love elephants), and my favourite necklace is the sandalwood mala with the gold Serenity charm. A fun tip I learned is that sandalwood absorbs your personal fragrance, so it makes the pieces even more personal, it is also a great tip for the summer when you don't such a heavy scent, your wooden mala will let out just the right amount. LOVE IT!

How to wear it?
The entire Rita & Zia collection is super fun and versatile, making them perfect for layering. Get one of their gem or wood mala necklaces and mix and match with your own jewelry collection. Also, check out their daintier pieces like Mini Bling bracelets and Multi Bling necklaces.

A cute summer look to consider is to pair a Rita & Zia piece with a simple maxi and sandals and you are ready to strut your stuff in Southern France, or here at home. My picks would be a zesty orange racerback maxi by Topshop and the simple and extremely affordable Old Navy gold braid flat sandals.
