Whether you’ve got a mate, or you’re looking to hook one, every lady loves to feel pretty on Valentine’s Day. Here are a few quick tips for the perfect day-to-dinner-date look (Feb 14th is a Monday after all) that are both soft and feminine.

1. Go easy on the eyes with minimal liner and shadow: This way your lashes can do all the talking (and batting) and your eyes will look bright and open. You’ll need an eyelash curler for maximum effect, and a couple of coats of your favorite mascara from root to tip.

2. Get that “you’re making me blush” look to last all day: An easy way to pick the right blush is to gently pinch your cheeks, then choose a colour that matches your natural flush. Look for a cream base to blend on the apples of your cheeks and dab on the tip of your nose. The result? Dewy and fresh-faced, stay-put makeup.

3. Simple lips look more kissable: Of course we all love a killer red, but matte lipstick can come across as harsh. (Remember, we’re going for soft and subtle here.) For a more romantic pout, try a tinted balm. It’s totally easy and you can still get that killer colour that you love.

4. Less shimmer let’s you shine more: A sheer illuminator can brighten you up, but be sure to keep it light. Just a touch on your cheekbones and under the brows will give that healthy, youthful glow. It’s a fresh, au naturale type of beauty. Now what could be more seductive than that?
