With the start of the holiday season comes an onslaught of party invitations and multiple outfit changes. Although the guarantee of more than a few nights out with friends and colleagues is a definite highlight, the downside to a stacked social agenda is the stress of what to wear to all those fabulous soirées. We sort you out with these four looks that take you from a casual holiday brunch to a New Years Eve fete.

 The Occasion: Office holiday party

Why I love it: Where a casual t-shirt and nine-to-five pencil skirt get special treatment is in the details. Sequins and taffeta polka dots breathe new life in everyday staples that can work for both day and night. Let’s be honest, everyone loves a good transitional piece.

How to wear it: A boxy fitting t-shirt looks great paired with a slim bottom silhouette like a pencil skirt or pair of skinny trousers. Play up the preppy trend and Layer a crisp button-up shirt underneath the T, for an overall look that’s both sophisticated and fun.

Outfit: J.Crew sequined t-shirt and patterned pencil skirt.

The Occasion: Holiday brunch

Why I love it: One of the easiest go-to party looks this season is a dazzling top or knit paired with a great pair of jeans. It’s the perfect dressed-up, dressed-down look that mixes two of women’s favorite things: bling and comfort.

How to wear it: Layer on the jewels to make up for the fact that you’re wearing jeans and top it off with a pair of show-stopping heels.

Outfit:  J.Crew beaded knit and denim

The Occasion: New Years Eve

Why I love it: There’s something so powerful and sexy about a woman in menswear inspired evening clothes. It’s a perfect alternative to a cocktail dress and unlike a dress you can mix and match these separates all year round.

How to wear it: Make sure your menswear inspired pieces are impeccably tailored and that wherever you can, look for ultra feminine touches like sequins and shine. A pair of sky-high heels is a must here.

The Occasion: Christmas Day

Why I love it: There’s really no better time to have fun with the colour red then the holidays. Monochromatic dressing has become a much needed update to all this boldly coloured clothing we’ve been seeing these past few seasons and I’m loving it!

How to wear it: The peplum continues to be one of the hottest trends right now. Not only is it super flattering, it's a versatile style that you can easily outfit from day to night. Make sure the top of the peplum is defining the smallest part of your waist and keep things simple and fitted on the top and bottom.
