FOR THE LOVE OF VINTAGE BLING

FOR THE LOVE OF VINTAGE BLING

FOR THE LOVE OF VINTAGE BLING

Vintage clothing sometimes weirds me out. Wearing someone else's old camelhair coat or evening jacket, okay, but their shoes? I don't think so. I have none of those hesitations with hand-me-down jewellery. Deco bakelite bangles: Ship it in. Forties-style crystal brooches or dramatic chandelier earrings: Point me the way.

In researching an upcoming accessories story, you'll understand my excitement when I happened upon Dayle Goertzen, a jewellery designer based in Winnipeg.

Under her company name, www.vintagebling.ca , she handily refashions pins and necklaces, rings and bracelets into dramatic and thoroughly modern statement pieces. Prices start at about $35 and go upwards depending on the size, degree of complexity of the piece or the amount of vintage stones and jewellery that has been deconstructed.

Goertzen will also do custom work, so if you have an glittery heirloom just waiting to be reborn, email her at info@vintagebling.ca.
