Try before you buy

Take your time in the fitting room. It's important to try on different brands and sizes to compare. And don't forget to try them sitting down.

Go for snug, not loose

Get jeans that are slightly tight; most pairs will stretch a little after you wear them. If they gape around the waistline, try one size down.

Check out the back pockets

If they're too small or too low, they won't flatter your shape (and can make you look larger). If they're spaced too far apart, they can make you look wide.

Ask for help

Sales associates know the brands and cuts and how they fit. They can help you narrow down the options—and save you time in the fitting room!
