Fall fashion trends sneak peek

Who doesn't love fall fashion? It's so much fun playing with rich-coloured pieces and dressing up your wardrobe with bold fabrics and texture. So I was excited to attend Bayview Village's 2011 fall fashion shoot for a chance to get a sneak peak of what's in style this upcoming season.

Who doesn't love fall fashion? It's so much fun playing with rich-coloured pieces and dressing up your wardrobe with bold fabrics and texture. So I was excited to attend Bayview Village's 2011 fall fashion shoot for a chance to get a sneak peek of what's in style this upcoming season.

Accessories took centre stage with glitzy shoes and jewellery. Also popular were sequins, studs, bows and bold patterns. Monochromatic pairings were clean and flattering, and vibrant colours were used as punctuators. The motif? Think flashy statement items paired with classic, versatile pieces.

I met with fashion stylist Zeina Esmail and Bayview Village’s fashionista and marketing director, Melissa Evans-Lee, who shared with me the top three trends to look for this fall:

1. Animal print
Be it a solid leopard print outfit, a vibrant animal print coat, or the perfect purse, shoe, or belt to accent your look, embracing your wild side with touches of animal print is the way to go this season.

2. Fur

From the runways to the streets, it's all about fur. Statement pieces like fur (and faux fur) vests and coats are always fall favourites. And look for fur detailing on purses, gloves, boots, and shawls – a great way to integrate the trend into your daily look.

3. Sparkle and sequins
Glam up your everyday life with sequined tops, glitzy jewellery and beautiful, sparkly shoes like the Kate Spade Charm heels (seen in player above). You don't have to wait until the next special occasion to wear these items – don a fun glitzy piece to liven your everyday attire!

Melissa's must-have items for this fall include hunter boots, indoor leather coats, sheer coloured blouses, a classic white tuxedo-style blazer, and a stunning pair of Louboutin’s signature red-soled black leather pumps.

Zeina's top must-haves include a great fall coat (think bright-coloured jackets, military-inspired outerwear, and fur-trimmed coats) and high- or mid-calf riding boots.

You can look forward to seeing all of these glamorous trends and how to wear them in Bayview Village’s upcoming lookbook. All items available in retail stores at Bayview Village.
