How do I care for my swimsuit?

Follow these quick tips to help your suit last longer and look better:

• Rinse it with cool water after every swim--you'll find showers at most pools and beaches.
• Be careful when applying sunscreen lotions as they can stain the fabric.
• Rough surfaces like concrete can snag or pill your suit. Try sitting on a towel.
• Avoid rolling a wet swimsuit in clothing or a towel as the dyes can run. Instead, place it in a large plastic freezer bag.
• When finished for the day, wash your suit with a mild detergent in cool water and hang to dry in the shade.
• Never put your suit in the dryer--the intense heat will destroy its elasticity and shape.
• If you're a regular pool-swimmer, look for an endurance suit made of higher chlorine resistant fabrics. --Elizabeth Cabral
