Q: How can I calm skin that turns red when my brows are professionally waxed?

Many experts recommend taking an aspirin half an hour before treatment to help reduce swelling from a wax job. If your skin gets really sore, ask a pharmacist for an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream; apply a cold compress for a few minutes after waxing to help reduce swelling, then apply the cream. If your have really sensitive skin you should forgo makeup, but if you need to conceal the redness right away, choose a creamy stick concealer (it lasts longer than liquid formulas). Apply it carefully and set with a light dusting of translucent powder. --Lisa Tant
