3 Anti-Chafing Shorts We Love From Canadian Brands

Our picks for days when sweat and flesh conspire to make trouble between your inner thighs.

A recent unseasonably warm day sent me out on a long walk and while I delighted in the warmth of the sun on my face, the slow burn rising between my thighs—the warm-weather friction phenomenon known as "thigh chafe"—quickly reminded me why rising temperatures demand advanced wardrobe planning.

And while there are sticks and creams out there designed to prevent sweaty scenarios, they pale in comparison to summer's true secret weapon: anti-chafe shorts. The shapewear-adjacent short does a great job at minimizing the irritation that can result when sweat and flesh conspire to make trouble between your thighs.

Before temperatures climb again, here are three options we stand behind.

Thigh Society The Cotton Shorts, $44

Thigh Society is the gold standard for fighting fleshy friction. These comfy shorts come in various lengths and are made from super-soft Pima cotton.

If you run hot, the brand’s cooling shorts are made from silky technical fabric that promises to bring temperatures down an entire degree.

Knix Thigh Saver, $39

The beloved Canadian brand’s Thigh Saver comes in three different lengths: four inches, six inches and nine inches. The six-inch option, which sits just above the knee, provides a solid middle ground. These seamless shorts, which are made from a mix of nylon and lycra with a breathable cotton gusset, are also cooling.

And if you want to combine anti-chafing benefits with period protection, Knix—a pioneer in leakproof underwear—offers a leakproof version of the model, too.

Lululemon UnderEase Super-High-Rise Shortie Underwear, $54 for two pairs

Lululemon’s UnderEase Shortie Underwear combines the comfort of traditional underwear with anti-chafe properties. The high-rise full-coverage style is designed with physical activity in mind and, in signature Lululemon style, it does the job by leaning into breathable, sweat-wicking technical fabrics.

The Canadian activewear powerhouse also offers runners relief with its anti-chafing running shorts and high-rise bike shorts.
