Fashion fix: The floral summer dress

Designers like Jil Sander and Montreal-born, Erdem must have taken inspiration from their gardens for their spring 2011 collections, sowing the seeds for this season’s big floral trend. Bold, bright and pastel prints were in full bloom appearing on everything from silky tops to billowy skirts.

Part of a summer dress collection that is their most expansive compilation to date - featuring over 70 styles and colours - this floral maxi from Banana Republic hits all the right notes with its pattern and floor-length hem. Best of all, I was able to pick up this dress in a petite size (available in select stores, and online). I personally appreciate this option especially with longer hemlines. And with adjustable straps, I can keep proportions in check, wearing it to work with heeled sandals and a blazer, and then with flats on the weekend. A versatile investment – now that’s romantic.
