Jennifer Aniston's lob

Okay, we know “the Rachel” is totally dated, but it turns out "the Aniston" is eternally in demand. “There is something about Jennifer Aniston’s hair that women really love. No matter what style she’s sporting, it’s always a top requested cut,” says Redken hair colourist and stylist, Sean Godard. Right now, that cut is a lob – the longer, shoulder length bob that’s been all over Hollywood.

Michelle Williams' pixie

“Often it takes a star to inspire a client to cut her hair off,” says Godard. Right now that woman is Michelle Williams, whose minimalist pixie cut is reminiscent of Jean Seberg’s close crop from 50 years ago. Who else has inspired ‘the chop’ in recent years? “It may be hard to believe now, but when Victoria Beckham cut her hair, tons of women did the same.”

Kim Kardashian's long layers

“I get a lot of requests for long, flowing layers, a la Kardashian,” says Godard. “The look is sexy, shiny and polished, so it’s best for women who will take the time to style their hair.” Face-framing layers add lots of bounce making this style highly coveted.

Alexa Chung's laidback locks

The current ‘it’ girl has inspired a lot of shoulder length cuts, says Godard. “It’s the beachy, undone texture that most clients are after.” We too love this relaxed (somewhat bed-head inspired) look that works so well with your natural waves and body.

Rose Byrne's blunt bangs

A blunt bang is a lot of look to pull off, but as of late, Rose Byrne has been inspiring women to go for it. “Sometimes a client really loves the essence and style of a celebrity, and wants to try and emulate that with their own hairstyle,” says Godard. To be sure that you really love a cut, and not just the celebrity who’s sporting it, Godard suggests covering up the star’s face and focusing exclusively on the tresses.
