Slough off dry skin with sugar
If you don’t have time for a facial or microdermabrasion use sugar in the shower to exfoliate. "Sugar is the best exfoliant in the world," says What Not to Wear makeup artist Carmindy.

Bust shine with cornstarch
"If you’re traveling and forget your face powder get your hands on some cornstarch," explains Carmindy. "It works as an alternative to translucent powder – it dusts on, absorbs shine and disappears."

Smooth your skin with bananas
Bananas make a really good facial mask, according to Carmindy. Mash up a really ripe banana and smear it all over your clean face. Wait 15 minutes then wash it off. It will smooth and moisten your skin.

Improve your complexion with honey
"Honey masks are also great," she adds. "Clean your face, put honey all over it then apply a hot wash cloth over top and relax for 15 minutes, then rinse it off. Honey is amazing for your skin it will leave skin hydrated and supple."

Add a hint of colour with Jello
If you’re in a jam for lip stain use Jello powder mix, says Carmindy. "Take a packet of cherry Jello, mix it with clear lip balm and you have an instant lip or cheek stain."
