Create laid-back, beachy surfer-girl hair by following this season’s ’70s trends: single-tone colour and care-free cuts.

“Hair should be easy in the summer, since humidity and salt water bring out natural waves,” says Marie Robinson, colour director for Clairol. Go just a shade lighter and you’ll disguise any UV-ray damage; go darker to hide chlorine-related damage.

To get sexy, windswept beachy hair use:

Bumble and Bumble South Surf Spray, 125 ml, $30. At Sephora.
