January Style Opener- Eye liner

Pencils

Pencil liners can smudge, unless you find a good one that isn’t too creamy. For ease of use, choose a retractable pencil instead of one that requires sharpening. Once you’ve applied the eyeliner, go over it with a small amount of eyeshadow to help keep it from smudging and give it staying power.

Night Series Eyeliner in Night Flight, $28, NARS.

Gels

For an intense look, gel and cream eyeliners are the way to go. They don’t smear, so they are especially great for anyone with oily skin or in humid climates.

Smoky 2 In 1 Gel Liner in Black, $15, The Body Shop.

Powders

The easiest way to create a line is by using a powder eyeshadow. For a precise application, use a fine-tip pointed brush. Apply it dry for a soft look, or for more drama, dampen your brush and use it wet.

Eye Shadow in Carbon, $19, 263 Small Angle Brush, $24, M.A.C Cosmetics.
