Get the look

The hardest part about embracing grey is growing it out. To ease the transition, cut hair short. Ask your colourist to bleach it platinum and then use a toner (which deposits pigment into the hair) with a silver hue.

The Maintenance

Conditioning is key to luscious grey locks. Grey hair has less protein, causing the body to add an extra layer of cuticle to the hair shaft to protect it, which increases coarseness.

Like blond hair, silver hair can take on a yellowish hue. Using a bluing shampoo once or twice a week can fix that. You can even mix a little into your regular shampoo, says celebrity colourist Lorri Goddard.
