Massive moisture

You’ve heard it time and time again: you need to slather on a rich moisturizer come winter. But what if your skin is also sensitive or acne prone? Behold the latest from Kiehl’s. This classic lotion is now oil-free so you can get intense hydration without compromising your complexion.

Try: Ultra facial oil-free lotion, $32. Kiehls.

Reverse redness

Does your skin have a tendency to get red and ruddy in the colder weather? If your skin is reactive and sensitive make sure to avoid excess wind and sun exposure (which can still cause burns in the winter). Use a cream cleanser followed by an SPF every day to create a protective barrier. Then, cover up any additional redness with an oil-free mineral powder as a base.

Try: Redness solutions instant relief mineral powder, $40. Clinique.

Eye spy

If you’ve ever had to trek through blinding snow (in our Canadian climate, who hasn’t?) you’ll understand the value of a good quality waterproof mascara. There’ll be no worries about smudging or raccoon eyes as the day goes on. Layer one on after curling your lashes and you’re set for the day.

Try: YSL mascara singulier Nuit Blanche waterproof exaggerated lashes, $36. Sephora.

Get glossy

Instead of caking on a thick lipstick over a dried-up pout, try a nourishing balm with a hint of colour. Look for ones with shea butter and coconut oil for maximum protection and hydration. Use this during the day to get nourished lips and save the heavier lip shades for night.

Try: Tinted lip balms, $8. Burt's Bees.

Real radiance

Illuminate your complexion in just the right spots with a light-reflecting concealer. Look for one that’s moisturizing and hydrating and dot it under and around the eyes, around the nose and anywhere that needs a bit of concealing and colour. It’s the perfect alternative to a cake-y foundation and brings light to your complexion.

Try: Teint Miracle, $40. Lancome.

Glam eyes

Don’t save your waterproof liner for sandy beach vacations – it’s just as useful in the cooler months. It will stay put from day to night, rain or shine and won’t crease or end up near your eyebrows. Plus, if you’re looking parched and tired this eyeliner is an instant pick-me-up.

Try: 24 hrs glam eyeliner, $21. Lise Watier.
