Lisa's pick: Dish up more oatmeal
Oats don't make me think of velvety smooth skin but they're the top ingredient in several moisturizing, skin-care collections. Oatmeal extract provides a protective layer on the skin that creates a barrier from drying wind and sun damage. It also calms irritations like sun burns—perfect if you're a winter sports-lover or suffer from scaly dry legs and arms.
Check out these moisturizers containing oatmeal:
· Developed specifically for Canadian winters, Lubriderm Nature's Moisture Therapy, 100 mL for $4, contains oat, mustard seed and cassia seed extracts to help soften and nourish dry skin. Available at most drug stores.
· If your body gets dry and itchy, try Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Bath, 8 sachets for $12. Available at most drug stores.
· Kiehl's Deluxe Hand & Body Lotion with Aloe Vera and Oatmeal, 236mL for $29.50, smells delicious and doesn't leave a greasy film. Available at Holt Renfrew; Kiehl's store 407 Queen Street West; or 1-800-KIEHLS1.
