Baking amateurs and enthusiasts alike will be baking up a storm for this weekend's Toronto Bakes for Japan event. This Toronto-wide bake sale on April 9-10 is an initiative to raise awareness and funds for the Japanese Red Cross Society following the devastating earthquake and Tsunami in March. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. Championed by two bloggers with a love for food and community, Heena Punwani and Niya Bajajwas, Toronto Bakes for Japan was inspired by other similar charity bake sales around the world. Their motto? Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world. (Howard Zinn)

A few of us from Chatelaine, as well as a dedicated group of community members who are donating their time and efforts, will be there to generate support. And of course, we'll be bringing goodies! We'll be baking up some of our favourite recipes from Chatelaine including our Pucker up squares and Best ever brownies (and more!) for the Liberty Noodle venue. If you live in or around Toronto, join us next weekend at one of our six venues (see photo below for more information). There will be tons of delicious treats, and you'll be helping a great cause!
